We have joined the 5-A-Day Book Challenge issued by Anna at The Imagination Tree. The challenge is to pick 5 books and read all of them to your kid every single day for a week. They suggest choosing short picture books which feature strong rhythm and/ or repeated refrain so that the children can quickly memorise the words and join in with the story-telling. This empowers them to be able to "read" and re-tell stories from a young age, and also makes them very fluent in a range of text types and literature styles.
We read a lot of books here. But have never read the same books all through the week except for a few favorites like 'The very hungry caterpillar', 'Brown bear brown bear'.
There are plenty of ideas with book list/choices in the comments section on Anna's post today.
And here are our picks for this week:
The Grandpa Book
The Busy Little Squirrel
A Childs Good Morning Book
Listening Time
Its Okay to Be Different
