Coconut Shell Bugs

It is rare that I buy whole coconut here in US, because many a times it is not good so prefer the frozen shredded coconut. So, it is only for festivals, I buy them and when I bought it for Varamahalakshmi festival this time, I saved the coconut shell.
But did not know what to do with it. Putti suggested we can paint it. She asked for yellow color and because of the roughness of the shell, it was a very different experience to her and she kept telling it is rough amma.
After 2 coats of paint, I thought maybe we can make it into bumble bee so I added black stripes and Putti then added ’googly eye' to it. Here is our bumble bee!

Encouraged by how the bee turned out, I decided to make the other half of shell into a ’Lady bug'!! So let putti paint the shell red paint.
Then added black spots using a round sponge brush and finally glued 'googly eyes' to finish the Lady Bug!
