Painted Easter Cookies

These Painted Easter Cookies turned out so adorable. Kids will love painting them.
Kids Painted Easter Cookies
Last week I baked and decorated some Flower cookies for one of my friend's little girl's birthday. I had some dough left over and I asked Putti what shapes should we cut them out, she was all for Easter shapes. So we pulled out our cookie cutters, rolled and cut the dough and baked them. I used my favorite short bread cookie recipe as they are eggless and that is what I use for all my decorated cookies. I iced them with royal icing (again left over from the flower cookies). I use the recipe from Bake at 350. I left the cookies to dry over night and and then the next day I got out our food coloring. I let Putti apply the coloring like paint, using q-tips for our brushes. We used Wilton Gel Food Colors this time but regular liquid food coloring works well too which is what we used with our painted cookies during her 3rd birthday and painted flag cookies for memorial day. Just add a little bit of water to the food coloring and you are good to go.

Putti loved decorating her cookies how ever she liked. I loved watching her paint her cookies and listening to all her stories as she painted.

Here are some of the Egg shaped cookies she painted. I love all of them but think polka dot cookies are my favorite.  This can be made as an art activity for Easter Party and I am sure kids will love it.
