Measuring Leaves Using a Ruler

This is a very simple activity for the kids to practice using a ruler by measuring leaves.

Do you have a child who is obsessed with the measuring scale? Are you looking for some a fun way to incorporate maths into play. Then this activity might be for you and your kiddo. My 4 year old loves to measure things, using both non-stand measure and a ruler. Her favorite is measuring our hands and feet just like she did with The Foot Book. Some days she measures her hands multiple times a day, just to see how it has grown. She cracks me up :-)
She holds a ruler and goes around the house finding things for her to measure. It was leaves turn today. She gathered some from our little patio garden and pulled some pressed leaves from last year and got to work measuring.
She really has mastered using a ruler and knows that the zero end has to be aligned with the end of the leaf.

And after measuring them. She even arranged them in a sequential order of lengths.
