DIY Ganesha Idol Workshop at Claystation

Here are Ganesha Idols that Putti made with help at a workshop held at Clay Station.

Clay Station is a creative clay studio situated in namma bengaluru. During our stay in India this year, Putti had an opportunity to take part in their annual DIY Ganesha Idol Workshop. Me and Hemanth started making our own ganesha idol after moving to USA because of the lack of availability here. You can see the idols we have made here in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. She has been watching us make the idols each year, while playing with the clay sitting next to us.
She was really excited this year, when I told her she can try making her own idol. She loved moulding the air dry clay  and giving it a form. The instructor there helped her a lot. First she made one using the ready made mold available there. All she had to do was fill up all of the gaps with clay.

Then join the two pices of mold, wait for some time and then pull out the idol.

Here is the idol she made using a mold. They do have several choices of molds available.

There were many other kids at the Clay Station that day and Putti loved working in a group.

Next, she wanted to try a free hand just like one of the bigger kid was doing. The instructor helped her make each part and then join them to give the proper shape.

Here is her finished work!

She sure was proud of the idols she made and kept telling everyone at grandparents house, how she made it.
