Here are some of the Ganesh Idols that kids including Putti made at a workshop.
A friend of mine conducts free DIY Ganesh Idol workshop for little and
adults big kids every year here in North Florida. This is the first year I took Putti there. She had some prior experience last year at Claystation and has already made idol one at home this year. That made her more confident and she did enjoy making her own idol out of clay.
Some of the big kids in action at the workshop.
Here's Putti working with her piece.
After having made one ganesh idol already at home, Putti did know the how to part. But needed help with attaching the parts. Yet, she was very particular and told me very sternly "Amma, you' ve had your chance of helping me make an idol at home. Now it is Aunty's turn" lol. So, it was my friend who had to help her :)
Here is Putti with the idol she made.
Here are all the idols that were made that day.
A closer look at some of the idols. Many kids got really creative and made fruit baskets, crowns, turbans etc to adorn their ganesh idol. Putti loved the white clay and asked me she wanted that for next time. And I also learnt that crayola air dry clay which some kids were using that day is much softer and easier for little hands than the AMACO clay that I have been using always to make my idol. Need to try crayola next time.
